The Class A Heavy Equipment Hauler is responsible for safely transporting heavy construction equipment, including dozers, excavators, tractors, and off-road trucks, using a lowboy trailer. The Class A Heavy Equipment Hauler should have experience loading, operating, and securing heavy equipment, is comfortable driving on active construction sites, and is committed to safety and DOT compliance.
Responsibilities
- Safely transport heavy construction equipment to and from job sites using a Class A tractor-trailer
- Load, unload, and properly secure equipment for safe transport
- Operate heavy equipment as needed during loading and unloading
- Drive on highways, local roads, and active construction site with uneven terrain
- Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of trucks and trailers
- Maintain accurate trip logs and delivery documentation in accordance with DOT regulations
- Follow company safety policies and procedures
- Report mechanical issues and assist with basic truck and trailer maintenance
Requirements
- Valid Class A CDL with a clean driving record
- Experience hauling heavy equipment with a lowboy trailer
- Experience operating equipment such as dozers, excavators, tractors, and off-road trucks
- Ability to safely load, unload, strap, chain, and secure heavy equipment
- Ability to operate a manual transmission
- Working knowledge of DOT regulations and required documentation
- Strong commitment to safety, dependability, and attention to detail
- Must be 21 years of age
- Capacity to work Monday through Friday regularly, and Saturday as-needed
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, work outdoors in varying weather conditions, and remain seated for extended periods
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in civil construction or heavy equipment transportation
- Basic mechanical knowledge for day-to-day servicing
